I believe some before us have suggested the decor looking tired...so what. Others may have criticised the menu selection. All I can say in response is...really! What the Fox and Hounds might lack in any area it far exceeds in how they deliver a fantastic experience, from the heart. We've travelled extensively and been privileged to experience the very best of service all delivered by numbers and to be frank quite 'plastic'. We stayed for 10 nights. The staff are authentic, wonderful, and so helpful. To mention a few... Alex, Tom, and Lindsey. The restaurant team, including Eliza, Nell, and Ruby. Housekeeping for looking after our room and keeping it clean and tidy, which is not easy when you consider we had three pooches with us. Last but not least, Matt and Helen, you and your team made us feel so welcome. If you want to relax, unburden yourself from life's stress, and want your beloved 4-legged family members with you or simply want some downtime all to yourselves... this is the place to go! Thank you all so much.

Met up with my two sisters lunchtime at the Fox and Hounds and we all had fish and chips. My sisters commented on the food and both said the best fish and chips ever. Great service from Victoria. They can't wait to come back and indulge once again.

I have just come back from 3 days of post surgery convalescence at the Fox and Hounds. It was the perfect place for me to recover. I was met with immense kindness and great service which meant so much to me in the circumstances. The setting was beautiful and peaceful. My room (the Heywood Suite) was spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean. The whole staff team were concerned for my comfort and welfare. I felt extremely safe and comfortable throughout my stay and would thoroughly recommend the Fox and Hounds to anyone looking for somewhere to recuperate.

Another absolutely fabulous stay at this gem of a hotel . As always room was beautiful and very clean. Bed was very comfy and pillows were wonderful. Tom as always was very attentive and friendly and the girls . Fabulous hotel to which I have had the privilege to stay in . We stayed in room 24 and it was very spacious and nicely decorated. We had the cream tea deal and the scones were served warm which was a lovely bonus and they were delicious. We also had dinner which was amazing. Thanks for letting us stay in your fabulous hotel and as always will be definitely returning. I would highly recommend this wonderful peaceful and positively delightful hotel. The hotel allows owners to take their dogs into all areas of the hotel. It creates a very friendly atmosphere and makes conversation easy to strike up. The restaurant is very good, a limited menu; but all well executed. Staff were excellent and easy going. Nothing stuffy about the hotel. Our room was spacious and well equipped and decorated innkeeping with the establishment. There is a rentable tree house in the extensive grounds, which looks magical for kids and old romantics. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend.

We had the best wedding at Fox & Hounds! The staff, especially Tom were absolutely incredible. Leading up to the big day we had regular correspondence with Tom who ensured the whole day went exactly as planned. If anything went wrong we had no idea! The grounds are stunning, the rooms are great. The bridal suite was beautiful, big enough for myself and 3 bridesmaids to get ready along with additional people. The food was amazing and there was loads of it. Tom could honestly not do enough for us. We are eternally grateful for all of the staff for making our day that extra big special. I honestly cannot thank you all enough for everything you did. We have so much love for you guys and we look forward to coming back next year for our anniversary!

After recommendations from my neighbour, I visited this restaurant for my husbands birthday. We arrived in due course and were advised to sit in the bar and someone would get us when a table was free. We ordered drinks and waited, and waited. After 30 minutes, I went to see the staff to see if we had been forgotten. She lied to us and said she had told us to go in the restaurant, which was untrue. We would have gone in. She then said she would sort it. We went to the restaurant which, apart from 2 tables, was empty and the tables had been cleared. A waitress came in and told us to take a seat, I asked where as none of the tables were laid, she again said she would sort it. After dinner, we waited for the table to be cleared and the desert offered. Again, this didn't happen. After a catalogue of errors, we left the restaurant in disgust.

Just come back from a couple of nights with our dogs at this fantastic hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable with a good view over the gardens. Breakfast was hot and plentiful; dinner was tasty; the grounds are inviting and spacious. What made it for us was the friendliness of all staff, and the welcome for our dogs. Other residents mostly had dogs and we all conversed with each other - what is it about dogs that makes their humans so social ?!! Would happily come for another stay.
